SECOND PHASE OF CAVITEX ROAD ENHANCEMENT NOW ON FULL SWING
Paranaque City – Following the completion of the first phase of its road enhancements, Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation subsidiary Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC), concessionaire of the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) continues to the second phase covering additional bridge lanes which will widen the Paranaque, Wawa and Las Piñas bridges from three lanes to four lanes.
The first phase, which opened to motorists in December of 2018, included the Southbound flyover and Left Turning Facility towards Pacific Drive leading to D. Macapagal Avenue. With its opening, the motorists immediately felt the ease in travelling to and from Paranaque, Las Pinas and Cavite. Investment for the full Cavitex enhancement is PhP 1.1B.
“Upon completion of the second phase of this project by Q2 of 2020, we will be able to make more room for motorists plying Cavitex, especially now that our traffic volume has increased by 9% since January 2019. Our traffic management plans are in place, we will be deploying marshals in areas under construction. We thank our motorists for their continued understanding and cooperation we are aware that this project will be a temporary inconvenience, rest assured when the works are over and the project completed, they will surely feel the ease of passage in Cavitex. Our motorists are number one, we listen to them, their suggestions and this project is a long-term solution to their feedback on arresting traffic congestion.” said Mr. Bobby Bontia, President and GM of CIC.
In this phase of construction, girders will be lifted and installed in the Northbound and Southbound portions of the bridges. During girder launching, a 30-minute stop-and-go scheme will be implemented during off-peak hours. The first activity, which covers the Southbound portion of Las Pinas Bridge, is scheduled to happen on February 24, 8:00AM to 4:00PM, and February 25, 12:01AM to 4:00AM. Counterflow scheme for Class 1 vehicles will also be implemented to aid the possible congestion that might be experienced during the said schedule.
To maximize the benefits of the road enhancements, CAVITEX motorists are encouraged to switch to the electronic toll collection system (ETC) such as the Easytrip RFID to ensure a faster pass through at the toll plazas.
Easytrip has also enabled the interoperability of the Autosweep RFID in CAVITEX, CALAX, NLEX and SCTEX. The Autosweep account holder just need to enroll their account in any Easytrip customer service station found along any of the MPTC toll roads.
The Cavitex is part of a road network being expanded by the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation, it will connect to the 7.7KM C5-Southlink which will traverse Taguig, Las Piñas, Parañaque & the 45KM Cavite-Laguna Expressway which connects at Kawit and will traverse Imus, Governor’s Drive, Aguinaldo Highway, Silang, Sta Rosa, Laguna boulevard until Mamplasan, Biñan, Laguna.
